Buddha Jayanti Park, Niladri Vihar: Nurturing Young Skaters

This morning, I took a leisurely walk at Buddha Jayanti Park, nestled in the heart of Niladri Vihar, Bhubaneswar. What began as a routine stroll quickly turned into a delightful and inspiring experience. As I wandered through the park’s serene pathways, I stumbled upon a vibrant scene that filled me with joy and admiration.

In the early dawn light, a group of small children was energetically practicing skating on the track provided within the park. Their enthusiasm was palpable, and it was heartening to see them so dedicated to their passion at such a young age. The sight of these little ones, gliding and maneuvering with surprising skill and determination, was a testament to their commitment and the support system that surrounds them.

The children were not alone in their endeavors. They were assisted by a coach, who guided them with patience and expertise. It was evident that the coach’s presence was invaluable, providing the children with the necessary techniques and encouragement to improve their skills. On the sidelines, their parents were diligently arranging seating and ensuring there was plenty of drinking water available. This collective effort created a nurturing and encouraging environment for the young skaters.

What struck me the most was the discipline and punctuality of these children. At an hour when many of their peers might still be in bed, they were out on the track, fully engaged in physical activity. Their dedication to skating not only keeps them physically active but also instills a sense of responsibility and time management, qualities that will undoubtedly benefit them in all aspects of life.

This initiative is a brilliant example of how community support and infrastructure can foster healthy habits and hobbies in children. The municipal authorities’ (Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) (1) BDA BBSR (@BDA_BBSR) / X ) decision to provide a dedicated track for skating is commendable. It highlights the importance of creating spaces that encourage physical activities, especially in an age where digital screens often dominate our lives.

I was so moved by this scene that I decided to capture it on video. Watching these children, one cannot help but feel optimistic about the future. They are not only developing their physical abilities but also learning valuable life lessons about perseverance, teamwork, and the joy of pursuing one’s passions.

Encouraging such activities is crucial for keeping this generation physically active and helping them develop in a balanced manner. It offers a wholesome alternative to the often overwhelming allure of social media and excessive screen time. By supporting their children’s interests, parents and trainers are playing a vital role in shaping a healthier, more engaged generation.

In conclusion, my morning at Buddha Jayanti Park was a beautiful reminder of the positive impact that community efforts and dedicated individuals can have on our youth. It was a joy to witness, and I hope that more such initiatives continue to flourish, nurturing the potential and well-being of our children. Let’s all take inspiration from these young skaters and their supportive network, and strive to create more opportunities for our youth to thrive in every possible way.
