My Visit to Netaji Memorial, Cuttack: A Place Where History Defines Parakram

Netaji Memorial inaugurated on January 23, 2025 on the occasion of Netaji’s 128th birthday anniversary this place showcases tribute to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose where history blended with modern digitalisation. Built and managed by the Cuttack Development Authority, it stands close to Netaji’s original birthplace, Janakinath Bhawan. More than 15000 visitors are attracted in the first day itself.

For me Cuttack has always been special, not just because its my hometown but its culture and heritage, So when I heard about the newly inaugurated Netaji Memorial at Dargha Bazar, I knew I had to visit.

Entering to the Memorial

I went there with my friend in the afternoon after laving lunch at The Biriyani Bucket, Bajarak Bati, cuttack. The first thing that caught my eye was the spacious parking area, lined with trees and plants. At the ticket counter, we paid ₹20 for the garden and ₹20 for the museum. They even accepted UPI, which was super convenient.

Since we went around 1–2 PM, we knew we’d miss the famous light and sound show in the evening. But that didn’t dampen our excitement.

Exploring the Garden

The memorial garden was peaceful and well-maintained. Walking paths curved around colorful flowers, and LCD screens in shaded units played documentaries about Netaji’s life.

We stopped by a large pool to take some pictures. The whole place felt like a blend of relaxation and history. I also appreciated the modern washrooms and purified water facilities, which made the experience more comfortable.

As we walked further, we passed by statues of great leaders – Madhusudan Das, Ramadevi, Gopabandhu Das, and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. Seeing them together reminded me how so many freedom fighters, both from Odisha and India, sacrificed their lives for independence.

We Entered the Digital Museum

The real highlight, though, was the digital museum. The entrance itself gave me goosebumps – a huge statue of Netaji with the map of Akhand Bharat behind him.

Inside, the museum was a mix of technology and history:

All these things I have shown in my Youtube Video.

  • Two flags: the Tricolour and the Azad Hind Fauz flag
  • Rare books written on and by Netaji
  • Large photo displays of his journey
  • A virtual speech projection of Netaji in his INA uniform
  • Bronze statues of Netaji in different poses
  • A unique vein-structure sculpture of his face
  • Displays on Jayee Rajguru, Mangal Pandey, and Rani Lakshmi Bai
  • An illusional projection of Mahatma Gandhi that caught everyone’s attention

The museum ended with a grand hall housing a giant statue of Netaji, leaving me with a strong sense of pride.

Beyond History – A Family Spot Too

What makes this memorial even better is that it’s designed for everyone. Outside, there’s a children’s park with swings and play areas, perfect for families. There’s also an open-air gallery in front of the fountain, where the laser light and sound show takes place every evening. Sadly, I couldn’t stay long enough to see it, but it’s definitely something I plan to experience next time.

My Experiences

Walking out of the Netaji Memorial, Cuttack, I felt both proud and emotional. It’s more than just a museum – it’s a living reminder of Netaji’s courage, vision, and dream of a free India.

For me, the most powerful moment was standing before Netaji’s statue with the Akhand Bharat map. It was as if history itself was whispering his words of determination.
