I live in Odisha, India. There are numerous numbers of languages all over India. The DTH we have connected in our home also features channels in different languages but especially in Odia, Hindi and English. As a child I was only able to understand Odia mainly. But as I grew up around class 8th and 9th I started to watch Hindi and English channels also.

Channels I used to watch

At that time DD National (Door Darshan) was one of the most popular channels as there were less number of private TV channels. So DD Odia was on my list.

There’s another Odia channel called E Tv Odia that was also on my list.

In Hindi and English channels there were Star Plus, Star Sports, 9XM, History TV, Entertainment, Star Movies, HBO, Cartoon network, Animal Planet were there.

Tv Shows I used to watch

Shaktiman

The most captivating and attractive show for a child was Shaktiman which was broadcast in DD National. The fascinating Indian superhero never failed to attract a single child of the 90s.

When I live in my maternal grandmother’s house during the summer holidays they didn’t have a TV at that time. So we children like me sneak into the neighborhood house just to watch Shaktiman and Aryaman, at the noon 12:00 mostly on Sundays.

Odia movies on the weekend

DD National Odia and Etv are showing 3 hours long Odia movies on the weekends, as schools and tuition are closed on Saturdays and Sundays we with the whole family sat down in front of the TV with some home made snacks.

Those are the golden memories of our childhood.

Tere Liye

It’s a hindi serial broadcast in Star Plus, a romantic and family drama that never failed to capture me. I am still searching for its episodes online and on YouTube but couldn’t find it.

Antariksh

A sci-fi and romantic action drama serial broadcast on Star Plus was also my all time favourite. It’s story was narrated on the basis of Ramayan and its advanced showcasing of graphics like Hollywood movies made me a fan.

Other shows

Other shows like sports and music and movies were once my reason for sitting in front of the TV.

Conclusion

Still I forgot to mention many TV shows on my list. But once these shows stole my sleep schedules and even I sneaked into neighbours to get a glimpse of these shows. We never thought that one day Mobile and Computer would stole those memories from us. In this era of internet we forget the legendary TV shows. What a memorable childhood we have !! I always wanted to be in that era. The calling of Shaktiman to the sixes of Sachin, from Tom and Jerry to Oogy and Cockroaches, from WWE fights to romantic dramas my childhood was filled with adventures.
